Wiping soot with a regular cloth almost always smears fine particulate deeper into the surface — our El Mirage, AZ technicians use a dabbing technique with chemical sponges specifically to avoid that.

Chemical sponges lift soot particulate instead of smearing it into the surface.
Porous surfaces like drywall get different treatment than tile, glass, or metal.
Soot turns corrosive on metal within about 48 hours — we move quickly.
Standard vacuums push soot particles back into your El Mirage, AZ home's air — ours don't.
Sponges get replaced frequently during a job since a soot-saturated sponge starts redepositing particulate.
This step happens before any wet cleaning, since vacuuming first prevents particulate from smearing when surfaces get wet.
Tile, glass, and metal get a different chemical treatment than porous drywall and wood.
We prioritize metal fixtures early in the job since the corrosion clock starts immediately.
Ceilings get cleaned before walls, since falling particulate would otherwise recontaminate freshly cleaned wall surfaces.
We clean vents and returns as part of the same visit, not as a separate service call.
A technician answers and schedules the fastest available crew.
Crews arrive with HEPA vacuums and dry-chemical sponges on board.
You approve the scope before any sponge or solvent touches a surface.
Cleaning proceeds surface by surface with a final walkthrough to confirm.
"We tried wiping the soot ourselves and just smeared it worse. Meridian Smoke Damage's sponge technique actually lifted it without streaking." — Homeowner, El Mirage
"They caught the soot on our kitchen faucet before it started pitting, which the adjuster said saved us a hardware replacement claim." — Homeowner, El Mirage, AZ
"I didn't expect the vacuum step to matter that much, but the carpets ended up much cleaner than our own attempt." — Homeowner, El Mirage
Wiping smears fine particulate deeper into porous surfaces instead of lifting it out.
We prioritize metal surfaces early specifically because of that corrosion window.
Yes, porous surfaces like drywall and non-porous surfaces like tile get different treatments.
Soot removal reduces odor but a dedicated odor treatment may still be needed for lingering smell.
Carpets and upholstery get vacuumed first to avoid smearing particulate when they're cleaned.
Same-day response is standard given how time-sensitive soot damage is.
We keep response times short across El Mirage specifically because soot corrosion is a time-sensitive problem.
